When you know you’re on the top and you have to ski down the mountain, wanderlust and adrenaline mix in your blood and take you far far away. 

But thats not all… 

Where wooden barns are converted into luxurious chalets, toasty fireplaces are automatic and hot tubs are on the snow covered slopes; it all makes a perfect base for the ultimate ski experience. Woollen throws and ox fur blankets are accessories for your furniture and sheep skin slip ons wait for you at home in Courchevel.

Now this is probably my favourite season after summer (tsk tsk) and on a more serious note hitting the slopes in style is important. 

Soaringly low temperatures call for some concentrated fashion decoding and before I jet set for a ski holiday I do always look at my wardrobe for winter baubles. 

While you shoop shoop shoop down the valley a tad girly and a little bit snowboard boyish sums up to some great fashion inspiration. Cozy warm sweaters and fitted down jackets are just not enough. This white winter wonderland calls for some woolly blankets wrapped up in different styles with furry wellies, matching fleece lined gloves and sherpa hats. Sheep skin boots and quilted Moncler parkas are part of the permanent look. Baubles like woollen scarves, white ski goggles and pastel ear muffs make the look a ‘complete’ winner. And of course, while you're there woollen throws and ox fur blankets serve as the perfect accessories for your furniture.

Spring 2015 Couture - Lull breaking Paris

While I listen too pouring down rain in gloomy London, grey skies and short days take over my mood. It's worst coz it's my first day of being back from the most uplifting ski break, which by the way, was a complete overload of greeny blue skies, soaring low temps and swish snow white mountains. I had my complete chalet-chic mode on, other than the times I was clad in boyish ski gear of course. Hot tubs and personal butlers were just the right accessories.  

While the post vacation lull continues, all I can think of is Paris couture week to feel better. It's funny how every time I look at a collection whether it's couture or ready to wear I excitedly know its going to trickle down to high street quickly. Inspiring and dominating couture is so obviously the best it gets. Flipping through every look is drool inviting and somewhat exhilarating. 

Jean Paul is only making couture now and Karl is cropping the Chanel Blazers (waaozza!). Giambattista is ever lastingly prissy while Versace is still too sexy for my shoes. The #frows and street style were a tad more up market and couturiers lavished looks with a profusion of blooms. How I feel spring is an obvious season for flowers somehow not so much for couture though. Cropped, coverage on one side, stripes and biker blacks are so the right way to go. 

This time I have hand picked the looks that will inspire my glam night out styling. Of course barring the swish gowns, whether it's going halves, all leather or tulle loving Carrie Bradshaw, I feel inspired.

Be a good sport: Alexander Wang for H&M

Following a heavily loaded fashion season and with all the couture and prêt the industry has to offer we needed a tad break. By being obsessed with sports and of course hints of Wang's eponymous collections like the oversize logos and sharp tailoring we are kicked to say that it’s finally coming out: Alexander Wang for H&M. Reachable or not yet there always comes a time atleast twice a year when we are breathlessly waiting for a seriously cool collaboration to hit the racks (be it Beyonce or Rihanna for whoever).

While sports couture as a phenomenon has never failed, we still want to the see the brilliance created by the highly coveted designer. This time around there is a sense of some undercover urbanesque activity that is surfacing. The vibe’s gone sporty chic mixed with daring boyish hints and some bold footwear. Black to grey being the all hailing colour palette mixed with activity prone accessories and thick textured neoprenes giving life to silhouettes is seemingly refreshing for the retailer. His lookbook is a complete dash into kicking start the sporty autumn season. And now we are waiting to see how quickly these pieces vanish of the racks.

Note: Now when we think of thick scuba jackets and insanely cool sweatshirts only WangxHM comes to mind.

Hermes Spring Summer 2015

Hermes has always aced the art of simplicity. The super fine constructions create an impact and the clothes stand out merely on account of stark minimalism. The highly modest rendition of the Indian tunic that opened the show aligns perfectly to the same. The fit proposition was slouch but dandy as always with a chic and understated edge. The cropped high-waited pants clubbed with a leather shirt and a white one tucked in python shorts being an apposite case in point. The leather wrap skirt ought to be a highly desired entity for those who represent and hold the highest orders in fashion. The inspiration for the season came from African tribal, courtesy of which the collection centered on smocking in silhouettes and some graphics in the print class. It was Christophe Lemaire’s concluding show for the house of luxury supremo, another high-profile exit (another one in reference being that of Jean Paul Gaultier’s). The final bow in the two cases was completely different ends of the continuum. Albeit both stuck to what the labels have represented always, a very similar thing to do if you think of it.
